Actually a workmate of mine gave a review of this book at the office. we regularly have book review sessions where staff can attend and talk about a book they've read and give a review on it and the rest can chip in their thots as well on the book... (thanks Azlina! ive been searching for this ;) )
if you have read the LOA book by Rhonda Byrnes called The Secret... then you should follow up with this book ... it gives a smilar explanation from the Islamic p.o.v.
Acc to The Secret book, you have to 'ASK, BELIEVE and RECEIVE'.
and acc to the quranic interpretation , the concepts are equivalent to 'DOA, SABAR and SYUKUR'
Rusdin S Rauf goes on to say that although the islamic concepts are rather magnified , there are definitely elements of LOA in them.
Doa is of cos,
to ASK from God, what we want. or intend to have.
Sabar, is
BELIEVE with patience that you will get what you intended. sabar here is acknowldgeing the fact that what you intend will arrive. However, i think it is not enough to say that one must be patient that it will happen, but rather that
it has happened. here, one must think that , say, for example, the car of one's dreams, has arrived. hence, the feeling of absolute elation that one has attained it.
Hence,
BELIEVE that you have
RECEIVED... (wink wink! hehe)
But most importantly, the author stresses the concept of
SYUKUR which is similar to Rhonda's
gratitude concept. of course, i wont elaborate the concept of SYUKUR here as we have "understood" it as how we have "understood" it, right. the AQ way.
I love the fact that the book highlights the important notion of 'bersangka baik'. i suppose in relation to the LOA, it is not sufficient to tell ourselves to think positive , but to think 'right'
and to be constant on that 'rightful thinking'. one cannot be a proponent of LOA or human rights for that matter, if one still behaves irrationally on the road and cuss people who drive to slow on the road, right??? it doesnt jive, yea.
Ultimately, the moral of the story is that one must have a good and righteous disposition in order to desire and attain things in life... true enough. The author advices reading the Quran and to always be in the attitude of gratitude in order for LOA to work...
